Mite Counts
When we share information as a group, we learn what does and does not work here for our bees to survive and thrive. When you report your mite counts, club leadership receives an email so that we know what trends are occurring locally, and also we can answer your questions and make suggestions based on what you have reported. For instance, last year, mite numbers started out low, but then spiked almost everywhere in our area in late August. Early warning allowed us to encourage better monitoring and treatment amongst all of our members (and when you neighbor controls their mites, it means better survival of your colonies). Matt has developed a Mite Count Form to help keep track of mite numbers and treatment effectiveness among our members. Please help us develop a good database of mite occurrences and treatments that do and don’t work here!
